1880 Vines Old Hill Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Mount Pleasant 1880 Vines Old Hill Vineyard Shiraz is sourced from one of the Hunter Valley's most famed Shiraz vineyards. Planted in 1880 by Charles King, it has produced some of the region's greatest red wines.
Mount Pleasant's founder, Maurice O'Shea, first made wine from this site in the 1920s.
The fruit is handpicked in three vineyard passes, ensuring selection of the finest bunches. The grapes are destemmed and crushed to small open fermenters before undergoing a brief cold soaking.
After fermentation the wine is pressed to large French oak barrels, 30% new, for 18 months of ageing.
Deep purple, Mount Pleasant 1880 Vines Old Hill Vineyard Shiraz has intense dark and red fruit flavours intertwined with spice. The finish is long with seamless tannins. Cellaring potential is 25 years.
